Flying Field "Do's and Don'ts
The field is now open for flying, and just want to remind members about the safety practices and the T L C for the grass, to keep Zanders happy.
- Please have your MAAC membership card for 2006 with you when you go flying.
- All safety rules must be adhered to. (eg. no flying over the pit area or behind the flight line) to name just two.
IMPORTANT: The MAAC insurance stipulates that you must adhere to the safety rules, or will could find that you are not covered, and in an extremely serious financial predicament if you had to claim!!! You may be the greatest pilot in the world, but if you have a mechanical failure through no fault of your own, you will be deemed to be flying negligently and will not be insured!!!
- Please do not set up, fuel, start your aircraft on the grass. Please use an absorbent mat, min. size two feet x three feet (2'x3'). Spilt fuel causes grass burns and loss to Zander's revenues and reputation.
- Please have a pin available with your frequency number. Frequency boards will be set up for you to use. So please put pin on board before turning on or fueling up your plane.
- Never, ever drive on the field if the ground is soft enough to leave tire marks, even in the unsodded ground. The grooves you leave can cause significant damage to Zander's mowers (they use the unsodded areas to turn around), which would make Zanders extremely unhappy and unlikely to allow us back onto their fields in the future.
Having talked to Rob. the Zanders field foreman, we can use the field south of the school, the one we were using last year, until they start to take up the sod, then we will be able to use the big field with the access road down the middle at the 10th and the Tottenham Rd.
At the "school field" please set up etc. on the dirt not the grass. At the "big field" please set up etc. on the road.
Rob was most adamant about this so please do as he asks to ensure good relations with Zanders, and our club continuing to have the best flying sites, period!

Beeton R/C Flying
Indoor Safety Rules
1) All Pilots must be members of the Beeton R/C Flying Club and have valid MAAC Membership.
2) No flying over the pit area.
3) Stay behind pilots at all times, call "on the floor" to retrieve a model.
4) Pilots, please consider other pilots and sharing of the air space.
5) Only electric powered models may be flow.
6) You are requested to fly in a safe and responsible manner at all times and to exercise caution when flying close to the walls.
7) Four aircraft will be allowed to fly at any given time.
8) “Chicken runs” towards the pilot/spectator area are not allowed.
9) Mid-Air collisions = each pilot for himself.
10) If a frequency other than 2.4G is used the pilot must inform all the other pilots of his frequency and place a pin in the designated area.
11) The flight line will be the Black line on the floor closest to the stage.
12) All visitors and spectators must be in the pit area.
13) When the need arises to retrieve your aircraft you must call out “ On the floor” at this time all other pilots will land there aircraft and only then will you go out onto the floor and retrieve your aircraft.
14) If you do not wear glasses it is suggested that you wear a pair of safety glasses.
MAAC Safety code for indoor flying to be flowed: 4.8 INDOOR R/C
1. I will fly aircraft (in size, weight, speed and other flight characteristics) that are compatible with the size of the indoor flying space. 2. I will ensure that my aircraft and radio control equipment are in good condition and fully functional, prior to the first flight at each flying session. 3. I will abide by the safety rules for the flying site I use, and will not wilfully or deliberately fly my model(s) in a careless, reckless, or dangerous manner. 4. I will follow the recommendations of the manufacturer or supplier of the cells/batteries I am using in regard to their safe usage, charging, and disposal, and I will closely monitor my batteries while charging. 5. I will abide by any rules or restrictions requested by the owner or manager(s) of the building. 6. I will not leave behind any model parts, wreckage, or other materials or refuse when leaving the flying site.
